Use one club meeting to review the tips in the Engaging Younger Professionals Toolkit and reflect on what your club has to offer that appeals to emerging leaders.

Attend a district membership seminar if one is offered near you. Use the Club Membership Committee Checklist throughout the year.

Identify a need in the community and organize a service project to address it. Be sure to promote your good work on your club website and other media.

Find the social media toolkit on the Brand Centre and refresh your club’s social media presence. Determine which social networks are right for your club and the best ways to use social media to connect with new members and make sure they can find you.

Talk to your guests after your meetings, and invite them to your club’s social events and service projects.

Meet with members in small groups and look at the many ways to get involved in Connect for Good. Encourage them to choose one or two new ways to get involved that meet their interests, such as organizing a club event, joining a Rotarian Action Group, or participating in a Rotary discussion group.

Learn when and why members leave your club and generate strategies to keep them engaged so they will stay, using the Retention Assessment and Analysis.

Meet individually with members who are not engaged and get to know their interests, talents, and skills. Suggest ways they can get involved that would be of interest to them. Find ideas in the Connect for Good guide.

Invite all members to observe and comment during board and committee meetings.

Identify professionals and diverse groups of people in your community who are underrepresented in your club.

Make a presentation on the State of Rotary’s Membership during a club meeting and talk about how your club compares to the global averages.

Remind members that anyone can propose qualified prospects to your club or refer qualified prospects for membership in another club.

7. Ideas and resources for creating or offering an orientation for new members:

Develop a new member orientation program using ideas from Introducing New Members to Rotary and the online course Kick-Start Your New Member Orientation.

  Establish a mentor program that connects new members with experienced members who can answer questions and offer direct support.

Encourage new members to explore rotary.org and the courses in Rotary's Learning Centre to learn more about Rotary and develop new skills.

Ask a tech-savvy member to create and manage your club website.

Capture images of your club members being People of Action, and then use them to optimise your club’s online presence.

Create a fully customized club brochure, using the template in the Brand Centre 

Plan events to raise community awareness of Rotary, using the Event Planning Guide in the Brand Centre 

Use the resources under News and Media on My Rotary, including Rotary Images, to create custom presentations and brochures.

9. Ideas and resources for running your club smoothly:

Fill leadership positions with qualified and dedicated members. Send your club president-elect to PETS and your other incoming officers to the district training assembly to learn from other club and district leaders.

Develop standard processes for areas such as prospective member recruitment, new member orientation, membership leads, and leadership succession planning.

Create a vision for your club and set long-range and annual goals using the Strategic Planning Guide. Include a membership plan as part of your strategic plan.

10. Ideas and resources for improving club leadership skills

Encourage your club officers to take the club officer courses in Rotary's Learning Centre.

Send your club president-elect to PETS and your other incoming officers to the district training assembly to learn from and network with other club and district leaders.

Engage an interested leader by delegating temporary permission to conduct online Rotary business on your behalf, such as updating membership records or managing membership leads.

Make sure your club has reported all its officers to the Data Management System (DMS), which will ensure they can each access to the Manage Membership Leads page on My Rotary.

Develop a process for managing leads to ensure prospective members have a positive experience with Rotary.
